Make your own homemade cleaning products that are safe to use even around young children, pets and the elderly. One of many things I like about essential oils is their versatility. Not only do I use these all natural plant extracts to help improve my health I also add a variety of oils to my do it yourself (DIY) natural cleaning products.
Why Make Homemade Cleaning Products?
Our bodies are exposed to toxins on a regular daily basis in the air we breath, the food we at and through the water we drink. We can reduce this heavy toxic load by using chemical free products to clean and maintain our homes.
Have you ever walked down the laundry detergent or cleaning products aisle at your local supermarket and noticed the strong chemical smell? The aroma can be almost overwhelming.
I know when I clean the shower enclosure in our bathroom that if I use a standard household cleaner the fumes build up and become so strong before I have finished I have to stop and take a fresh air break. That can’t be good for your lungs or the rest of your body either.
On this page I will share with you some simple, easy to make but effective homemade cleaning recipes using essential oils and other natural ingredients.

Homemade Air Freshener
Use essential oils to make your own natural, safe air freshener! What happens when you have a can of commercial air freshener and you spray it too close to someone? They instinctively cover their eyes and face to protect themselves. Now, you can create your own homemade air freshener that is safe to breathe into your lungs. I don’t recommend you get it in your eyes because essential oils can sting.
I didn’t think my homemade natural air freshener would be strong enough to use in the bathroom. I decided to try it out and was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. The essential oils attack the odor molecules and don’t just cover them up.

15 drops of orange essential oil
5 drops of peppermint oil
5 drops of lavender essential oil
Add the oils first to a cobalt blue or amber to a 4 oz spray bottle. Add the water last and then shake to mix.
